To say that I was excited to read this one is an understatement... When I heard about Blue Bloods, I so wanted to read it, I rushed to the bookstore ASAP!
I had 2 reasons for being such an airhead, first was that because I heard Melissa Dela Cruz is half-filipino, and so am I. Oh, and the old Filipino mentality took over me, SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRYMEN. Argh. I always thought traditions are quite a pain in the as*.

Oh my. I really didn't enjoy this. Mostly I just found it...aggravating? Between the name/label dropping (seriously we get it, rich New York prep school kids like designer clothes), cliched romance and the totally obnoxious Schuyler, I just couldn't get into it. Not to mention the fact that the authors main descriptions of most characters were just how emaciated they looked. To make matters worse it's pretty much just an intro to the rest of the series and doesn't have a very solid plot, itself.

I really wanted to like this book! The mythology is amazing. The writing.... well, not so much. Characterization and setting boils down to dropping designer names (a la Sex in the City?) and drama/dialogue/plot is a la Gossip Girl... urrrgh. If you really wanted teen escapist romance/thriller, read The Luxe.
