A new take on Angels - loved it! Review to come :) on to book 2

I have always loved picking up a series about Angels. But the problem with angel stories is that they some how always end up blending together in my mind because the stories are so similar. In the last several years I have started 4 different angel series, but am only up-to-date with one. That being The Immortal City series by Scott Spenser. I have always loved picking up a series about Angels. But the problem with angel stories is that they some how always end up blending together in my mind because the stories are so similar. In the last several years I have started 4 different angel series, but am only up-to-date with one. That being The Immortal City series by Scott Spenser. It's not that i did not enjoy the other series, I did. But when the sequel would come out I could not remember a thing about the 1st book so I would find myself having to do a re-read before I picked the series back up. I am glad to report that this Angel series is completely original and one that I will not likely to forget.

I had originally seen this book at the library and was stood out to me was the sheer size of the squeal and the beauty of the cover. (YES I LIKE BIG BOOKS AND I CANNOT LIE). With the third book being recently released, I decided to pick all 3 of them up from the library and marathon them!

In almost every Angel story you have ever read Angels are beautiful, caring and a symbol for everything that is good an holy. But what if they weren't eveything they were cracked out to be. what if Angels were actually feeding off of humans energies for their own existence? Sounds interesting right? This is EXACTLY the main premise for this book.

We start off meeting Alex a teenage boy is part of a CIA group that specializes in killing angels. This is all he's ever known his entire life, tracking down and killing angels before they harm humans. He also has a special personal vendetta; angels are responsible for killing his father and brother.

On the other hand we have Willow, an average yet beautiful teenage girl who is known more for her unusual abilities such as repairing cars and using her psychic abilities to tell fortunes. One day we read the fortune of a class mate Beth who has been Angel burned (what happens to a human after an angel has fed off of them). Once the angels find out that Willow has this psychic ability they will stop for nothing to have her killed.

Alex receives a text message with a new assignment to track down and kill, but when he arrives at the destination he meets Willow, a girl who is not angel, but not human. The angels want her dead because she could possibly be what may be the demise of all angels. After the order to kill Willow, Alex is starting to question exactly who he is working for. Now it is up to Alex and Willow to get to the bottom of all this and find out a way to save the human population before the angels completely take over.

I'm telling you guys, I was blown away by this book. It was original, suspenseful and kept me on my toes. There were certain times where the book was kind of slow, but it would make up for it by some amazing discovery. I can't wait to find out where the rest of this story leads! ...more

I've always been a fan of L.A Weatherly's books ever since I read her book written under Lee Weatherly - Kat Got your Tongue , Missing Abby and Breakfast at Sadie's. So when I discovered that she was writing a new series starring Angels , I just had to get my book hands onto it. When It comes to Angel stories, Im always in two minds as Ive read a few that weren't that great and then Ive read others that I've enjoyed. Angel Burn is one that I enjoyed. Shelves: angels-nephilim

I was a little unsure starting this one. I’d read a few reviews where people mentioned putting the book down after the first few chapters. But after reading it, I couldn’t understand why. It’s like Alex Rider mixed with angels. Evil angels, by the way. I’m always interested in how an author spins angel books.
