Ainda estou a tentar processar este livro.

Eu gostava bastante de Jodi Picoult. Li Vanishing Acts, Change of Heart, e (claro!) My Sister's Keeper.. e apaixonei-me! E depois tudo mudou!
que dramática!
Li Picture Perfect e The Pact e não gostei. Tentei ler The Tenth Circle e desisti a meio. Enfim, isto tudo para explicar que entrei na leitura deste No Seu Mundo um bocado reticente, com a sensação que seria uma perda de tempo.

I always zoom through Picoult's books. She's so good at pacing that it is difficult to put it down at night.

But.

The repeated descriptions of Asperger's gets grating. Phrases like "Asperger's is like...." and "Jacob gets upset when his routine is disrupted" are sprinkled throughout the novel so much that I wanted to shout "I get it already!" This was actually quite disappointing as, generally I cannot see the twist in Picoult's books until the very end, if at all. However, from about the halfway mark I knew what was going to happen.

This thing that immediately stood out for me in this book was

This story has the same dynamics with "My SIster's Keeper". It just had a different set of characters and a different "sickness" but "House Rules" is still a must-read. I liked it because I work with special needs children and can relate with the story. However, if you're expecting a really emotional book then it does not compare to "My Sister's Keeper". This one is less emotional and a little bit repetitive. Nevertheless, Picoult is a truly talented writer. ...more
