I loved the Forbidden Hearts trilogy by Alisha Rai so I was so excited to read The Right Swipe. (It’s a spin-off in case you didn’t know!) This definitely leans more towards rom-com and the steam is toned down compared to the previous books of hers I’ve read.
I loved the representation as always and the way that Rai can weave more serious topics, such as CTE, into a lighter story.

I have mixed feelings leaving this book. I am a fan of Alisha Rai’s previous work and was looking forward to this spinoff. I did enjoy the glimpse of Gabe and crew... though I did not enjoy the romantic relationship in this book. Nor did I particularly like either of the main characters. I found the heroine to be forced and superficial, at times lacking professional maturity to a somewhat embarrassing degree for a “successful business person”. I know that may make me in the minority of her fans,

The right swipe was my first book by this author so I didn't have any expectations going in. I can see why readers would love this book. The secondary characters were fun and It had a plot that a lot of modern daters can probably relate to. I struggled a lot with this one though. My issue sits with Rhiannon who is the creator of one of the largest dating apps. She's cool, she's single, she's self sufficient but I just didn't relate with her. (I swear I'm not anti-self sufficient woman) It's like

I received a free ARC from the publisher in exchange of an honest review. My opinions are my own.
This was a fun rom com set in the world of online dating and startups.
We met Rhiannon in a previous book so I knew I wanted to dive into her story. She is a strong heroine who made a name for herself in the tech world but a past relationship have been hunting her down. Rhiannon wanted to buy another matchmaker dating company and finds herself with a past one night stand as her rival and potential ...more

The Right Swipe has a lot going on in one book. Rhi is the successful CEO of a dating app (think Bumble) that she founded. She’s been pursuing the reclusive owner of a more traditional dating site, Matchmaker (think eHarmony/Match) in the interest of purchasing it and expanding her brand.
When she goes to a Matchmaker party in hopes of connecting with the CEO - she is shocked to see the new spokesperson for the site is Samson - the man she had one great date with months ago - and then he ghosted ...more

I'm a big fan of Alisha Rai, her Forbidden Hearts trilogy is one of my favorite series. I really enjoyed that The Right Swipe is set in the same universe and has some characters from those books pop up! This was such a fun read for me, I especially adored that the setting was both LA and Cayucos, CA (one of my favorite areas on the CA coast!)

A story of an independent woman and finding love in the modern world. But it also delved into how it is being a business woman surrounded by men.
.
Rhiannon meets Samson Lima through her own dating app but after “ghosting” her she doesn’t want anything to do with him ever again. However, circumstances push them together. This book shows just how much the dating world is changing. Rhiannon has a jaded view about love and throughout the book we see her struggle. She slowly begins to see that Sams ...more

Thanks to the publisher for my copy.
I loved this one! I flew through it, eagerly devouring Rhi & Samson’s story. While this one gets STEAMY and the chemistry is hot, there’s definitely a lot of focus on the non-romantic plot, including Rhi’s time in the tech world and how her past has shaped her. This is the 3rd tech-related rom-com I’ve read in the past month, but it felt fresh & unique. While Rhi wasn’t perfect (who is?!), she’s a bad-ass female protagonist and I was rooting for her the whole ...more
