They’re weren’t lying when they said it was a ‘slow burn’.

What didn’t work for me:
• My biggest issue was, the way the book was written the author had a tendency to build up to these hugely important scenes and then just CUT to days or even weeks later. Then the main character would back track and basically retell the story from her future perspective. It just gave me whiplash and took me out of the story. I would be anxiously turning pages and then to some sort of climax and then boom *two we ...more

I loved this so much!!!
This was my second Mariana Zapata and it really cemented my love for her. Her slow burns aren’t for everyone (I’m talking no kissing until like 95% most of the time) but the character development and the tension between the characters is always top tier. She knows how to write a compelling 600 page slow burn romance, that’s for damn sure!

Thank you @libro.fm for a copy of this book. I have heard so many great things about this book and have been wanting to read it. I have tried a few of her books and think her writing is not for me. I did enjoy this one but it feels like it drags on a long way to get to the HEA. The book is told in Vanessa's POV and the narration was great with the duet style whenever a male character speaks, Stephen Dexter voices it. I appreciate how dedicated Aiden is to the art of football and it translate to
