This book was just what I needed and wanted to read. I had been in a reading slump for close to a month and I quickly become engaged in this book and the characters - it was hard to put down! Cassie Crow is a pop-culture reporter from Chicago who is hopeful her new ideas will be well received by her producer. She is on a trip around Europe with her best friends but s ...more

This was a delightfully fun romance and first book in the Sometimes in Love series by @meloniejohnson! Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a Chicago talk show, is on a once in a lifetime trip exploring Europe with four of her girlfriends. Her ultimate souvenir? A steamy hook-up with an international hottie. While exploring a castle in Scotland, she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a sexy acce ...more

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson was such a fun read! Who among us hasn't imagined a hot little vacation fling?
The only problem for Cassie: She's been on a Eurotrip with four girl friends, and the fling just hasn't materialized. Never mind, there are castles to be explored and whisky to be sipped - and oh, hey, a sexy Scot in a kilt. Yup. This book goes all the way there.

I received a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. My opinions are my own.
This is not your typical Scottish romance novel. Yes there is a hot Scot who wears a kilt and there are castles but this romance is set in present time.
This is the story of Lance Reid and Cassie Crow who met after Lance pulls a prank on Cassie for his web series. They kiss and sparks fly. However, Cassie doesn’t want to sign the release waiver to show the prank on his show. So the story follows Lance ...more

This was an enjoyable rom com! Cassie is on vacation with a group of her best girlfriends and decides to have a fling. When she meets Logan in Scotland - there is chemistry from the start.
One of my favorite parts is a subplot around Cassie’s love of reading romance and bringing attention to the fact that smart women read romance and there’s no need to keep any reading in the closet. Agreed!!

Cassie has one goal for her European vacation with her four best friends, to hook up with a hot stranger. So when she bumps into a hot Scot in a kilt, she decides why not?
I wanted to love this book because Cassie is such a fun girl. I love how she’s career driven, has a close group of friends she sees regularly, and reads romance novels. However, the issue for me was the pacing. It felt like everything between Logan and Cassie was light, fun, and steamy, then all of a sudden there needed to be s ...more

Thanks to the publisher for my free copy.
This novel was good, and I think I'm in the minority so far, but I didn't love it. It had likeable characters, a cute storyline, and lots of steam, but for some reason I found myself struggling to connect to the characters. It wasn't a short book (350+), but I personally wanted it to go deeper. There are 2 more books in the series, so I'll still be giving those a try! Newer romance fans should try this one - it is definitely R rated (I didn't mind, but it ...more
