Very occasionally I come across a book that I’m completely captivated by and takes my breath away, Eleanor and Grey is that book for me.

I’ve left this review a couple of days to try and recover so I could properly articulate just how incredible this book is but it’s going to take some time to get over this. Oh my heart.

Right now I’m wondering what rock I was living under for this to be my first experience reading a Brittainy C Cherry book. What an amazing gift she has.

This book had me tears from the beginning and just when I started to calm bamm here come more tears. I admit that I feel deeply but but sometimes there are also books that just get to you. They break you down in the best way possible. So I’ll attempt to properly review this book.

You know when you start reading a book and right away you connect with the main character? That’s what happened with this book. Eleanor took a Harry Potter BOOK with her and read in a corner during a high school PARTY! Yes!! My book loving introverted self loved Eleanor! She was simply her. But there was nothing “simple” about her. She wore her dragonfly cardigan that her mom crocheted for her with pride even if people judged her for it.

And that party she took her Harry Potter book to? That’s where her story with Grey begins. Oh my heart. He read Harry Potter just so that he could something in common with her. Who can resist a guy that will read your favorite book just so that you have something in common? Anyway, they become friends and Grey is there for Eleanor during the toughest times in her life. Even when he couldn’t be there physically he was there emotionally. However, due to circumstances they grew apart and don’t see each other again until 16yrs later. Without giving too much away she becomes the nanny to his kids.

At this point in the book I already shed so many tears and the tears started one again, but this time it was for Grey and his beautiful girls. This story isn’t just about second chances with your first love. It’s about the love a mother has for her daughter. It’s about the bond between a mother and daughter. It’s about loving your parents even when they push you away. Never giving up on family. It’s about the love a parent has for his kids. It’s about grief. It’s about keeping your head up when people are being bullies. It’s about waiting for the right time. It’s about friendship. It’s about LOVE. I shed so many tears reading this but I am so thankful for stories like this. A story that touches on subjects that are sometimes so hard to talk about. One of my top reads! ...more

Well done, Brittainy Cherry! This was such a sweet Romance.

Eleanor and Grey meet in high school. He's a jock. She's a bookish introvert. Despite their differences, they form a bond that gets them through some tough stuff. Life events force them to separate after high school, and eventually they lose touch. Eleanor finds her way back to Grey later in life in an unexpected way and the two realize that the bonds they formed in their youth
