I'm going to go with three stars on this, even though I had some issues with it. I so wanted to love it, but in the end I felt very torn. It gets three stars from me because I do think it's important to talk about gender roles, feminism, and subverting expected paradigms in YA lit. And I loved Trish and Zada, and their relationships with Frankie.

I must say, though, I found Frankie's brand of feminism to be ... disturbing. She doesn't really seem to want to change the old boys' club, she just wan

The beginning of the story was a bit slow for me. However, I liked the strong female lead role, especially that she had to fight to prove herself strong in spite of the opinions of the people closest to her like her family. I found the storyline a bit farfetched, though. #2013hubchallenge

This is a light and fun story of a girl who discovers that her boyfriend is part of their boarding school's all-male secret society called the Loyal Order of the Bassett Hounds, and decides that if they won't let her in maybe she can be part of it without their knowing. It's a book full of pranks and a girl trying to prove that she's not just a pretty face. Frankie rocks. I love the banter in this book, and while the ending wasn't my favorite (I didn't need more resolution, but it felt rushed and not as true as the rest of the book), it still warrants four stars. Lighthearted and quick. I want more! ...more

I loved this book. I loved how Frankie wanted equal treatment!

Hub Challenge 2013 marks the fourth time I've read this book and I reacted the same way as I have the previous three times. I like Frankie's story. I don't like Frankie as a character. She's just too spineless for my taste, and that makes it hard for me to believe she'd have the gumption to perpetrate all the pranks in this book. ...more

This book made me want to do bad things to good people. I was not a prankster as a teen but this book made me wish I had been.

This is a very good YA read. It presents a strong female voice in a very male boarding school setting.
