Hmmmmm. This was my second "rich people being kinda terrible and theoretically charming" book I've read in quarantine, and while I was charmed by the first one I read ( The Pursuit of Love), this one just didn't hit the mark for me. Maybe I've just hit my limit on this type of tale? I was interested enough to keep reading, but I didn't really find it funny or witty or anything like that. I just found myself annoyed with everyone. It was probably just not the right book for me to read right now--

Who is Bernadette Fox and where did she go? Once upon a time Bernadette Fox was an up and coming architect in Los Angeles. I love Bernadette's character, she is so bizzare and so real. Her reaction to the failures and disappointments in her life is one that I'm sure some people wish they could pull off. She does not bow to the social constraints of being a mother and a wife, and says what she thinks, while taking the consequences of her actions with a calm and collected manner. Her strange adventure is delightful and curious. I liked the mixed media format of the book which allowed the reader to see from multiple vi

The audio reader does a fantastic job! I loved this book. It's quirky in just the right ways, with eccentric characters in just-barely-believable scenarios. It's not so much about Bernadette's disappearance as it is about the events leading up to it, but I won't quibble with the title. This book is the most fun I've had reading this year.

What a perfect book to read for Mother's Day! Bernadette is an award winning architect living in Seattle with her Microsoft company man husband and her middle school daughter. Enjoy every minute of this book since the characters, the plotl and the dialogue are so refreshing. School moms will relate to this book. Very clever and a fun read.

Unique. Snarky. Quirky. Current. And yet I found it meaningful as well. Bernadette Fox is unlike any character I've read before. Her genius mind doesn't allow her to buy into the gossip and seemingly silly and irrelevant projects of the "gnats" who are parents of her daughter's classmates. Her daughter, Bee, is her only meaningful aspect in life. Bee turn out to b perhaps the most mature character in the book, surrounded by adults who can't seem to get it together. ...more
