What Members Thought

Hysterically funny satire, smart and quick. A spoof on modern life, parenting, schools, Microsoft, the Pacific Northwest, and office politics. Although the story is told around the premise of a teenage girl whose mother goes missing, this will probably appeal most to moms and women dealing with the pressures and stresses of modern upper middle class life. A great quick read, perfect for book club discussion!

What a crazy, fun read. This novel was definitely different but super enjoyable. You can't help but love Bernadette and her eccentricities.

Sure wish there were half stars, as this would be 3.5 stars. Like most, I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of this book, and while I was happy to get answers to all the questions as the book was ending, especially when it involves accepting who you are and owning what you need, the voice shifted and I didn’t enjoy the last 1/4 quite as much.

Sooo 3.5? I’m with everyone on the last 1/4 of the book. I really enjoyed the story from so many angles, but not as much after the shift to Bernadette. The characters were quirky and well developed at first but really plummeted at the end. It’s almost as if this was constructed by 2 different authors
