I saw Ayaan Hirsi Ali speak at an event in Sydney several years ago and was very impressed with her brand of feminism. So this book had been on my to-read list since then. I kept putting it off because I knew it would not be an easy story. And there are certainly some parts that are hard to read and digest, especially in the first half of the book.

Shelves: memoirs
Almost finished, but got sidetracked with other memoirs about my focus country, Liberia, for the next book I write. But, Infidel is very well written and important!

Finished:

I feel like I understand the Muslim faith better if only from Ms. Ali's point of view, which I sadly fear is the case, the oppression of women, honor killing even in Holland the Dutch authorities discovered at Ali request once she was a member of the Dutch Parliament. Every American ought to read Ayaan Hirsi Ali's Infidel.
