Immediate, romantic, and entrancing. It perfectly expresses the bliss in discovering another person. I can feel the story going on past the last page.

The only thing I did not like was the length of the story.... I WANT MORE!

Yet, it is amazing how something so short can be so good and beautiful and emotional....

I adored Dark Soul and I just knew I would love this one too, apparently with some authors you will never be disappointed...

This is simply AMAZING! And I am simply at loss of words...

Felix and Baldur... wow... I felt so many emotions... from angst, to hope, to panic that nothing will end up good... then relief... I even cried!

Yes I did

Alright, I should start with saying that I usually don't really like books about World War II. Maybe because 70% of my (high) school time seemed to be spent talking about WWII in one way or another. I'm not sure. But I usually try to rather avoid than actively seek out books with WWII themes.

I did, however, read this book (thanks Tharayn!!), mostly because it was written by Aleksandr Voinov and this guy can write. And I really, really liked it. Liked it so much, that I can't wait to see what

Having a love affair with planes, fighter pilots, and WWII makes this story interesting to me. I found the characters endearing, and the story had a surprising gentleness that you don't associate with war. It left me hoping they grow old together. ...more

This was such a beatiful and romantic short story. I am amazed during and after each book I read by Voinov, they are so captivating & I am lost in the world he writes. This was so special, and I highly recommend.

"...If the world ends tomorrow, how will I go? Without ever having risked anything, or having done the one thing I can't stop thinking about?..."

Poignant and moving, 'Skybound' is a short story that takes place as WWII is coming to an end. This is a quick read which was beautifully written. Many quote worthy lines and thought provoking passages.

I found it initially difficult to feel any connection towards Felix and Baldur. Being that this story was written from a side so rarely seen when discuss

I didn't just read Skybound, I felt it in every muscle of my body. I was afraid for these men, trapped on the losing side of the Second World War - a perspective we rarely ever encounter. Yet they managed to spread warmth through my weary bones by daring to find happiness in each other at a time when even the next day was uncertain. My breath caught in my throat and I had tears in my eyes a few times at the sheer beauty of it all, a beauty tinged with the fear that they wouldn't make it.

Another great piece by Voinov. I LOVED this story. My only complaint is that it's too short! :-) I could have easily stayed in this world for hundreds of pages, and been perfectly happy.

The writing is so beautifully crafted, flawlessly edited, and well-researched. The characters were intriguing, the plot interesting, and I loved the rarely shared POV of German soldiers.

I am not normally a fan of short stories - I generally prefer the fully developed world of a novel. HOWEVER, that said, this s

Set in Germany in 1945, Skybound brings us Felix, a young Schwarzer Mann, an airfield mechanic with a great admiration and love for flying ace Baldur Vogt. It's near the end of the war, and the German aces (Experten) are fiercely trying to defend Berlin as the Allied forces attack.

I was immediately intrigued by the premise of this novella, as I don't think I've ever read a book set in this era from a German point of view. Most fiction (and film) addressing this period tends to be from the Allie
