I'm a big fan of Michael Gardner's books. His prose is silky smooth, and his plots are deliciously subtle. One attraction with Mr Gardner's fiction is that he covers so many genres, some of them difficult to place, and you never know what he'll come up with next.

What a gorgeous story. It reminded me of Michael Morpurgo's Kensuke's Kingdom - but for adults. Now, I have met a few people with hoarding behaviours and all were either in denial or hiding the real thing they were upset about. There was never a clear 'I hoard because'. Unless they told me 'It might come in useful one day'. Well, here is the thing about this book Ernest Wright the adult orphan finds himself alone again and finds that empty milk bottles do have a use - this is a hoarder's dream! ...more
