So SO good. I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. If you are a fan of time-travel historicals like “Outlander” (as I am) you will LOVE this one. Kathryn is visiting her grandmother in Atlanta when she discovers a portal to travel back to the 1800s. There, she encounters Forest Water, a Cherokee woman with her baby, who is being abused by her white husband.

What a great story. Kathryn is a TV journalist she has enough on her plate at the moment hunting down a drama teacher with dodgy cocktails. Then her grandmother tells her there is a non-existent Cherokee woman living at the back of her house. I'm not giving anything away - the clue is in the title, Kathryn ends up going back and opens up a big can of worms. Connie Lacy has her character considering everything in this immersive novel. Interesting ancestry historical fiction, heartwarming family s
