This story was similar to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins but different enough it didn't feel like a repeat.

In the maze the walls move; I liked how that detail had a purpose other than to make exiting it difficult. The solution to the maze was very clever. However, that is all I liked about this book.
There was too much unjustified violence. I understand it is a dystopian novel; which by definition is a book about a society characterized by human misery. But every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I did not feel this book even hinted at an positive outcome at the end of the series. I was not ...more

Thomas wakes up in a box in the glade with no memory of how he got there and what being there means; but he has tantalizing memories that remain just out of reach.
I couldn't put this book down. I loved the plot, the characters, the setting and the action.
For me this plot has echos of Lord of the Flies and Ender's Game. Will start the sequel tomorrow - I hope it's as good as The Maze Runner. ...more
