I adored this book. I picked it up at the library based on just the title, having heard it recommended as a fantastic read by someone on Reddit. I'm glad I didn't read any reviews or the synopsis before getting it, as it was a bit like unwrapping a present.

Eleanor is a misfit from a poor, dysfunctional family. Her stepfather is deplorable, and her mother is broken and weak. Park is the token Asian kid in this neighborhood of Omaha (half-Korean), and straddles between his popular friends and bein

This is 3.5 stars. It's well written and totally real. Set in 1986, Eleanor and Park become friends in HS. Eleanor is a “big" girl with bright red hair (called "Big Red") and describes herself as a barmaid. She recently returned to her home in Omaha. I wish there was a half star option because I really would have done 4.5 stars. I went up to 5 because I really did like the book. The characters are well written, and the plot is well developed. Even though the story is about so much more than an average teen romance, it did make me feel a bit nostalgic about first love.
My one grievance is the ending. I liked the climatic part, but the resolution didn't work for me. I find myself feeling this way about a lot of endings lately, so maybe it's ju

Muaha. Ich

Good quick read. I enjoyed reading it but I don't know if I care for the ending. Plus some aspects of it needed to be tied up better. I was also hoping for more music references. ...more
