RE-READ! I was overdue to reread this book. The plot is a classic one, and although it has turned up in a million forms (one of the afterwords I read pointed out a long list... including Jane Eyre, Cinderella, Bluebeard, and many many more) I still love Daphne du Maurier's telling, and love how Manderley itself is such a character in this book. I'm sure this is not my last re-read of this book. I also love du Maurier's short stories -- maybe it's time to reread "Don't Look Now," one of my favori ...more
