What Members Thought

On second thought, I didn't actually *like* this book or Hannah. I didn't feel like we got to know her supposed depression or whatever was going on inside her, we just got to see this girl who blamed everyone for her problems and never took action to save herself (not to mention anyone else who might have needed it). I don't like passive people who don't take an active role in their own lives, who sit back and allow others to set their reputation, who play the victim, who do NOTHING to change or

I have wanted to read this book for awhile. I watched the tv show prior to reading this but I still enjoyed the book.
Reading this was a lot different then watching the show. As Clay Jansen listens to the tapes you follow him around while visiting all the locations that Hannah mentions. As I read the book I could feel the stress that Clay was going through.
Clay listening to Hannah's voice telling her story and him remembering those exact moments added to the feelings I felt for him. ...more

I can't really express how much I loved this book without sounding like I just copied out the quotes from the book cover. This is a fascinating book, and one that I think I'll re-read constantly.

Wow...a heavy topic...but a must read for teens and those that work with teens...or have one at home.
It's not an easy book to read and multi-task, as I often do. The dialogue toggles between Hannah's voice and Clay's voice...past and present. But Asher makes it easier to follow with Hannah's words being italicized.
