A murder, a fox - a mother seeking revenge.

I loved the descriptions of foxes in this one. I liked the small stories between the bigger sections but I felt like the gaps between catching us up on mystery pieces kept me being invested and pushing to want to flip the pages. It was a quick read, a good audio.

This book had me completely mesmerized. Enthralled by a story that at times had me wondering how I got so into it because if someone had just randomly mentioned a book about foxes taking human form, I would scoff and say no thank you. That would have been a mistake.

Choo is a lyrical writer that wove a tale about loss, revenge, lost and found love and a murder or two thrown in to add some mystery. I felt many emotions while reading this, which reinforces the author’s skill because I’m usually a ...more

This was an excellent, wonderful food. Crisply written, imaginative and original.

The layering of Chinese language and culture was very authentic and relatable to an ethnic speaker like me.

It was slightly dark at parts, but so so so interesting.

I look forward to more books from Choo.

This was more a historical fiction than a mystery or a fantasy. It was slow but enjoyable. The main characters are likable and you find yourself rooting for both of them to have a good ending. At first, I found the actions of the "Fox Wife" (Snow) confusing but realized as the book went on that she is behaving like a fox, not always planning ahead and acting on impulses. If it had a faster pacing, I think this could have been a five for me. ...more
