I absolutely LOVED the audiobook of this beautiful novel, an interpretation of Huck!
Definitely my favorite book of July and possibly of 2024.

I was not sure what I wanted to immortalize here. The experience of reading James for me was another layer of slavery unmasked and revealed. I appreciate the bonds of love and loyalty in a deeper way today than I did before this book and found the author’s style fascinating. The sense of an adventure on the river as seen from Huck’s eyes and the bright conversations James held close were a delight while the experience was horrifying and the details hurt.

A brilliant story which takes Huckleberry Finn and twists it to make Jim the lead narrator. It was fast paced and the anxiety and fear of Jim really comes through the narrative.
