Nature vs. nurture. It's a long-standing debate. I personally think nurture has a more to do with how you turn out as a person, but Jeannette Walls might have just proved me wrong.

This is the story of growing up with two parents who, to put it nicely, both have issues. My armchair psychiatrist degree says they both just might be mentally ill. Definitely co-dependent. And really bad parents. Jeannette and her siblings grow up roaming from place to place as her parents run from people of the real

I decided to read this book for two reasons. The book club that I belong to had read this book before I was a member and we had just read Jeannette's other book Half Broke Horses, which was about Jeannette's grandmother. I enjoyed both books for different reasons.

The Glass Castle I found very interesting in seeing how difficult her life was when she was a child. I didn't know exactly what year everything was taking place, I had to guess. I just couldn't believe how her parents, especially her mo

I liked this book a lot because there was a lot of moving around for lack of a better term. It was an unconventional read and was always interesting. I loved that it was true, that it was her life and that it was a success story as cheesey as that sounds. I felt that it ended abruptly though and was a little disappointed and it was a bitter sweet ending- sad. This book is not for a bleeding heart type person but it allows you to see the struggle of American poverty.

This was a great read. Made me grateful for my sane parents.

I was stunned by the terrible parenting, and also by the choices she managed to make coming from the background she had. It was a tough but good read.

This is one of my Favorite books but it can be a hard read at times deal to the issues Walls deals with and has to go through. But it is an amazing book.

This was a really great read. Jeannette Walls writes about her unconventional, scrappy growing up experience with deceptively simple prose.
