Love that quote. I think Brian is probably the one I liked the most. He saw things for what they were, he didn't have rose colored glasses like Jeannete. He spoke the truth. Shelves: memoir

Luminously written memoir of the author's upbringing by eccentric, unconventional and irresponsible parents. Fascinating, disturbing and highly compelling. You almost can't believe when yet another dismal chapter of challenges and neglect arrive in the lives of the children, and yet from those ashes, a sense of resilience and strength resonates in the end.
