Without doubt this is the most harrowing book Iv ever and most others too it seems , from the start you have a sense of foreboding that something awful is going to come , and of course bloggers and vloggers have openly cried on reviews ! It is difficult to summarise without giving major parts of the plot away , so all I can say that is the writing the prose is wonderful , the story of friendship is wonderful and even with the disturbing contain and the very saddest of outcomes it is a terrific b ...more

I cannot recall another book shattering my heart quite the way this one did, but reading this book was worth the tears; it is beautiful.

Yanagihara's writing is absolutely incredible. I found myself marveling at the writing many times, flagging pages, saying to anyone who would listen, "Read this sentence--just this one. Isn't it gorgeous?"
