There's not much more I can say that's not already been voiced. This has got to be one of the, if not the, most heartbreakingly beautiful and depressing books I have ever read. Some of the prose is so achingly, beautifully descriptive, I almost couldn't bear it.

Self worth, self apathy, self redemption, fear and loathing, friendship (REAL friendship), love (romantic and not), acceptance are some of the central themes that run the course of this book, through these lives that intertwine.

I picked this up to read it several times and never got around to it until I was home with lots of time to read due to illness. I don't know why I waited so long. It is a good book. It is full of details and descriptions. The writing is excellent. Unfortunately, I had read several reviews before I began reading. I don't like to do that because I hear those reviews as I read. I often have unrealistic expectations. But I did enjoy the life long story of friendship, especially from the perspective ...more
