At the risk of being an outlier, I have to say that while I liked parts of this book (particularly certain characters, the MCs’ friendships and how they evolved over the years) and found it beautifully written, the story spiraled into one misery being visited upon another ad nauseum and it just became unbearable. I endured this book more than I can say that I enjoyed it. 2.5 stars rounded up to ★ ★ ★

I rarely write reviews but this book touched me so deeply and broke my heart into a million pieces. I will never quite be the same. As sad as it is, the writing, insight and structure are top notch.
