A great premise of a girl who disappears from camp 15 years after her brother disappeared in the same woods. It was hampered by a cast of mostly unlikable wealthy characters and the locals who work for them, an excruciatingly slow-paced story with multiple timelines, and not enough payoff with the ending.

Perhaps if it was condensed to 350 pages the story would have been more engaging? There is a whole lotta nothing going on for the middle half of the book. The book is told from eight different

How do I review a book that is art- no words I string together can do it justice.

It might be easier to say why I loved it.

The writing is fantastic. Liz introduced so many characters and time periods but in a seamless way. There were endless red herrings and unreliable narrators and I truly had no idea what happened. The character development was amazing. The author wrote grief and innocence and world weariness with such skill. And so many different examples of word play - I might reread it soo
