Such great fun to read, a cosy fantasy full of adventure & friendship, and set in a bookshop - lovely! I have read Legends & Lattes but I don't think it necessary to enjoy this book.

While recuperating from injury, Viv makes friends in the little town of Murk, helps to bring Fern's bookshop back to full operational glory, experiences romance, & captures the evil Varine inside an enchanted book. All in a day's work for the intrepid Orc. ...more

Another super cute, cozy fantasy read. This one is still in a small town where Fern is left behind by her crew since she is injured. She makes friends, gets up to shenanigans, and makes us fall in love with the town. I loved the local little book shop and it's adorable little pets. I loved the bakery and the pastry goodness. In this prequel to "Legends & Lattes", we find the orc Viv recuperating from a sword wound in the sleepy seaside town of Murk. There she finds love - both of books and of friends (and more). I loved this book as much as I loved the first and I really hope Travis Baldree continues to write more books. ...more

I'm not sure what it is about this series that is so damned cozy and comforting, but here we are again. Just like finding a cozy chair in your favorite bookshop, this book is lovely and nostalgic and sweet. It's interesting, because it's not like nothing happens. There is a plot and intrigue and drama. It's just written in such a way that it feels like a balm to the soul. A love letter to books, if you will.
