The old gods may be great, but they are neither kind nor merciful. They are fickle, unsteady as moonlight on water, or shadows in a storm. If you insist on calling them, take heed: be careful what you ask for, be willing to pay the price. And no matter how desperate or dire, never pray to the gods that answer after dark.

Addie’s “Freedom”.

I can’t believe it took me five months to find this book. What I love about this book is Schwab makes Addie so real and her relationships so haunting.

This is the first book I’ve read by Schwab and I definitely want read more.

The interaction between Addie and Luc is the real story; how Addie wants to “best” Luc is the real story.

I simply adored this book. After a slightly slow start, I discovered a remarkable book about love, life, and what makes us human.

Addie LaRue is an incredible lead character. Her adversary, Luc, is a dark sexy "bad' guy (aka Lucifer, possibly). And Henry, an adorable hero.

Addie and Henry have their lives changed after they make some questionable choices. How this situation is resolved is a tribute to all the Addie has learned over the last 300 years.

One of my favorite scenes was when Luc brings A

This was a good read. I like the unconventional ending. I'm so odd; I would have liked to have read about the different big events in history of which she might have been witness. When they did flip to the past, I enjoyed those parts. I kind of felt like one of her love interests might have been more boring than she deserved... but I guess there is a need you have that you have to remedy, no matter how exciting your past might have been. ...more

The book that has everything

This story has so much depth. It makes you think. It plays on the the best and worst of human nature. It has romance, history, drama, and lots of grieving/loss. It took a bit for the story to pick up the pace but it’s well worth the time.
