I loved this one. This one just absolutely spoke to my soul. As parents, we mess up. Man oh man, if only there were a manual. But there isn't so we all mess up. This was my first TJR book and I was talked into trying this due to a very avid fan base in a Facebook group. And I’m SO glad I gave this a try.
I was mildly interested in the story based on the blurb. Family drama, maybe something suspenseful with the fire, idk we’ll check it out. I’ve read books with way worse premises.

I almost DNF'd at about 30%. I think I have to be in the right mood for Jenkins Reid's style - it's basically pages and pages of meandering through the characters' histories.
I did stick with it - after all, I wanted to know what happened at the party! And I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I'm not sure I connected with any of the characters but ended up finding the story interesting. So sort of a luke-warm recommendation. ...more
