OUTSTANDING!!!!! I had put off reading this during these troubled times thinking it would be kinda boring historical fiction but was I wrong! I am soooo happy I finally decided to start this book as it was absolutely the exact beautiful, funny, character rich, smart, suspenseful and heart warming story I needed. I enjoyed every second! Listened to Julia Whelan’s audio performance and holy moly it’s a good one! I absolutely sobbed thru parts and cheered at others. Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomena ...more

Another great read (listen). Really fun to listen to. A little different because earlier this year I had read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and they are both about the traveling libraries of Kentucky and the women who ran them. This one was told beautifully. The earlier one painted a little bleaker picture of life in rural Kentucky during that time. Probably more accurate and not so rosy (not that this one was rosy either)
