I’m a former librarian so I really, really wanted to like this book much more than I did. The characters were flat and stereotypical, the plot predictable. Parts of the book strained credulity.

That said, it was an easy engaging read during this time of mass social distancing.

OUTSTANDING!!!!! I had put off reading this during these troubled times thinking it would be kinda boring historical fiction but was I wrong! I am soooo happy I finally decided to start this book as it was absolutely the exact beautiful, funny, character rich, smart, suspenseful and heart warming story I needed. I enjoyed every second! Listened to Julia Whelan’s audio performance and holy moly it’s a good one! I absolutely sobbed thru parts and cheered at others. Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomena ...more
