Khaled Hosseini is an excellent story teller. The pictures he paints with his words are so vivid that everything from the joys of everyday life to the horrors of war leaves the reader nearly breathless. As with The Kite Runner, Hosseini's previous book, there are parts of A Thousand Splendid Suns that were hard to read because the details of the events were horrifying; none the less, the book left me with a full range of emotion and a sense of awe. ...more
