wow, what an amazing amazing book. Books within the book are broken in half and we read only the first half until we have read all the beginnings and how they are all intertwined, before we understand the how and why and the what happened. An incredible look into our devouring power-hungry selves through the ages (and into the future).
This is a book that will leave you speechless and changed.

The technical aspects of this book were good for me. Strong distinct voices for the characters in periods of time, a strong uniting huge arc of story, beautiful prose. BUT, it took me weeks to read this book and I usually plow through a book in a couple of days. It was agonizingly slow at times. Like running through peanut butter. I also felt that though the characters had strong unique voices, they had little depth and I really had trouble caring about what happened to them. Debated rating it a
