A little bit light for me. A little too heavy handed with her themes. I think it would be better to read a history of the time and place.

I loved the story pace. This story spanned 3 generations, wars, countries and drama. I discovered aspects of the Japanese - Korean relationship that I was unaware of. Ms. Lee did a wonderful job telling the story of parenthood, love, sacrifice. A must read.
