A Spark of Light continued to burn throughout the read. The topic ignited and challenged my views regarding the abortion issue. Picoult masterly weaves a tale where readers continue to second guess what is truth from fiction. Playing with time as well as readers' hearts, she engineers that even if readers don't agree with the subject matter, by the end of the novel, they'll have reexamined their opinions regarding the topic. My rating is more a 3.5 stars. The story format left much to be desired when read as an ebook. It begins with the aftermath of the tragedy and then precedes to retreat an hour at a time until you arrive where it all began and return to the future in the form of an epilogue. While "unique" I suppose in that it does not go back and forth but simply regresses in time, it was tedious to read through and, at times, repetitive, and, for some twists, anticlimactic. I felt like I was rereading the same book over and over and over again. It was groundhogs day in book form. I never skip over pages but I did with this one. I ended up skimming the entire middle portion of this book just to be done with it.

This book is about a shooting in an abortion clinic. Not one of Jodi Picoult's better books for sure. I found myself feeling like it was 3 disks too long. Could have left some stuff out. Just okay for me. ...more
