Heartbreakingly beautiful. Historically gripping. Haunting description of wartime France during Nazi occupation and the people who struggled to survive through indescribable atrocities.
Could not put this book down. The characters are so well crafted, the story cuts right to your heart. One of my favorites. Sobbed right through the final pages.

I loved this book. It took a different avenue to WWII. It focused on women and mothers and families. How do you love and take care of your children and families in such dire circumstances? You take care of the world around you. It's impossible to be the person you want to be if you only focus on those immediately around you. We are all connected.
