I just can't do it. I really dislike Hannah's writing. Her characters and plot are boring and trite and overdone. Apparently the ending "redeems" the book but life is too short. I have other amazing books to read.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. Historically gripping. Haunting description of wartime France during Nazi occupation and the people who struggled to survive through indescribable atrocities.
Could not put this book down. The characters are so well crafted, the story cuts right to your heart. One of my favorites. Sobbed right through the final pages.

I don’t quite know where to start. That was heartbreaking and tragic and cruel, yet also beautiful and inspiring and romantic.
The two sisters at the heart of the book spend lots of time apart so it’s hard to connect with them at the start. Yet as the story moves along and they are tested in so many ways, you really start to bond very deeply with their stories.
