Re-Read

I fell hard for this book the first time I read it and its sisters, confirming in my mind just how much I love Mira Grant -- or rather, Seannan McGuire. But at the time, this was my first taste of the author.

I admit I cried. I thought I just loved it for the light and often funny tone, the great setup for a post-zombie-apocalypse, loving to death the medical basis, the hella great worldbuilding, and especially the main characters. Georgia. Shaun. Buffy. They all snuck in under my skin. Sl

I was first made aware of this book when it was nominated for the Hugo award several years ago. I was filled with happiness that a zombie novel had received a nomination. I read through the reviews and found that many people were frustrated by the lack of zombie action.

I will say that many of those reviews are correct, this is not a zombie novel in the traditional sense. It is not a book about survival amidst the living dead. It doesn't even take place during a zombie apocalypse. It takes place

It took me a couple of chapters to get into this and I honestly considered giving up at the beginning. I think it was me being annoyed at what I perceived as the know it all attitude of these youngsters who are suddenly superstars in their own world. Once I got into it though it was gripping and intelligent.
