This book features an African American girl who celebrates herself by perceiving the ways she resembles beautiful things in the world around her. The book's illustrations only have girls and are depicted in diverse ways. Although it does not include boys and adults, the book shows a reflection of self-acceptance, love, respecting others, and being kind to one another. I thought this was a great book. It talks about learning how to accept oneself. We might look different but we are also alike in many ways. I really enjoyed the diversity in the book as well. Definitely a book that I would include in my classroom library and read to the class.
