What Members Thought
A fantasy book like this, especially the first in a long series, is all about world building, establishing boundaries, getting to know characters, finding out who are the good guys and who are the bad guys, etc. I enjoyed this book, of course there are similarities and parallels to other fantasy novels that preceded this one. Having said that, I would still like to finish this series at some point. I gave it a 4 star rating! Cheers folks!
The Eye of the World is a wonderful book built around original and classical ideas. Very worth the read.
Despite some of it's "problems," (the LoTR parallels, a few plot holes, the final scene) I still think this is one of the best - if not THE best - first entries to a series I've ever seen. Later on, there are some books that drag...fans call it "The Slog." But Eye of the World moves rapidly and sets the foundation for amazing world building and character development. At no point do you feel like it's slowing down, or feel like it's as long as it really is. The sign of a great read!

Deciding to put this on hold. I'm just not really feeling in the mood for it right now. I'll definitely be coming back to it but not until closer to when the TV series airs.

Amazing book that starts an amazing series
This was a good book. I liked the characters and the adventure we went on.
