Tamora Pierce has always been a favorite author of mine and I definitely see her as a source of inspiration for my own writing. Alanna: The First Adventure is a fantastic story, the first of many. This is my second time reading it and it never disappoints.

Listening to the audiobook
I wanted to "read" something by Tamora Pierce and this was the first available at the library. I quite enjoyed it. Girl disguises herself as boy to be trained as a knight. Fantasy. I'm not sure why I liked it so much, but it was really well done. I'm going to go on to the next one and read more by Tamora Pierce. I recommend it for anyone - especially girls - 12 and up. ...more

I felt Alanna was a tad annoying at first, but she grew on me as I read. I'll probably read the next one regardless of my rating.
