Instead of reading the Insider series, I decided to listen to it.
I'm not a SciFi girl. I love (Epic)Fantasy! Kingdoms, Magic, Sorcery etc! But because it's an Maria V. Snyder novel, I figured I had to read/listen to it!
It took me an hour to get used to Amanda Ronconi's voice. And to be specific the voice she gave Trella, our heroine! But after that I really loved the story.
If someone had told me I'd love this story as much as I did, I wouldn't have believed him/her! This is why MVS is such a goo ...more

Trella is an interesting character and one of my favorite heroines that I've read about so far. She's a distrustful self absorbed loner who was bullied during her childhood and is still greatly disliked and treated badly by her fellow scrubs. Her personality traits make the romance slow to develop, realistic, and not mushy. Which is something I appreciate. I was expecting an over load of romance because of who the publisher is, but like Snyder's other works, there is just the right amount in my

Maria v. Snyder has a way with world and character building that just makes you fall in love with her books and everyone in them and this is no exception.
Within in the first few chapters we meet the characters, learn about Inside, the world it's set in and the action starts, yet it doesn't feel to 'full' or confusing.
I found protag Trella to be a very strong character, she's clever and strong and cares a lot about best friend Cogon, although she starts the rebellion by accident she doesn't shy a ...more

I have been itching to read this book since I heard about it. Maria Snyder is one of my favourite authors and she definitely delivered with Inside Out! Trella is a very likable character and I was drawn into her world of pipes and hidden spaces until the last page.
In the future that is Trella's present, she lives as a "scrub" and has the job of cleaning the air, heating, and water pipes that run throughout the world she knows as Inside. She, along with the other 18000 of her people, is a "lower" ...more

I am not really sure on how to review this one. I did enjoy it. But I had a lot of trouble in the beginning keeping interest and I almost stopped reading it a few times. I think it needed more character development. I didn't really have any strong feelings for the characters. I like the concept of it. It reminded me of the movie The Island. My copy has a preview of the next one and reading that has made me want to read the next one.

I couldn't help but to notice the similarities "in charecter" between Trella and Opal from The Glass series...not that I'm complaining...
I loved it so much i couldn't wait to grab and read the second one...I feel really sorry for those who had to wait for Outside in to come out :) ...more
