My tag-line for this book would be (in homage to Point of No Return starring Bridget Fonda): The government gave her two options: die today, really fast or die at some other unknown date in a really slow, painful, unpredictable way...
Surely I know I would choose the slow, painful, unpredictable death if I thought it would save me for today, but it's so tempting to say, "Well, wouldn't it be nice just to get it over with." And yet, despite the world being against her, Yelena still chooses life--e ...more

I saw "Fire Study" on the library shelves, and searched if there was a part one. Turns out It was already part Three.

This is not my typical type of fare but I was pleasently surprised by it. A girl who is put in prison is given a choice - death or the food taster of the head honcho. She, of course, chooses possible death by poison over certain death. Along the way, she befriends the people she works for and with, helps solve mysteries and finds out what she really is, where she really comes from, and how to reconcile that with what she has come to know and love.
