I still remember first reading this in high school and falling love. I loved how bad ass Yelena was, how hilarious and loyal Ari&Janco were, and how Valek.....well pretty much everything about Valek gave me palpitations.
Me and my sister were so obsessed we ended up somehow winning a signed copy of the original book and preached the book at every family party and to all our friends.

This book was… Wow. I really am speechless at how amazing this was.
It was not even a little like what I anticipated, I expected a dystopian novel that’s similar to The Hunger Games or Divergent, but it was nothing like them, which made it even better!

This is one of my all-time FAVOURITES! I just love the characters and the whole story line.
The strength of Yelena's character and her unusual job as a food taster to check for poison was really interesting. She's one of my favourite female characters' in the book world (at a tie with Hermione).
I especially started loving the series when magic got involved.
Maria has a unique way of showing and telling, which enabled me to feel as though I was watching the whole story unfold. I was addicted.

Loved it!!!!
I started reading this book thinking it would be just another average teen book. But boy was I surprised. I loved it, I loved everything about it. Now I plan on checking out all her other series. I have a feeling Maria Snyder will soon have a permanent position on my list of authors I constantly look for.
Reading for the second time now....I love this book so much it's unhealthy!!!!!!!
