What Members Thought

I like Dr. Seuss books much better when they're just silliness, not trying to convey a message. That said, it's amazing that this book was first published in 1971, when not many had yet begun to even think about these themes: the importance of preserving the environment and the interconnectedness of living things, combined with a warning about excessive materialism. It will never find a place among my read-again-and-again Dr. Seuss books, but you sure have to give him credit for writing it.
