To describe Where the Wild Things Are as a great children's book is to damn it with too faint praise; it is a great book that shows children the wonder of imagination, and parents that it is okay for their little angels to be monsters.

I recall my mother reading this to us girls when we were small and I memorized it hear we made her read it so many times. Don't bother with the movie though.

I had never read this until today when I read it to my tot. I definitely see why it's a Caldecott. Very cute story.
