I liked this one, I did. But it annoyed me that this highly successful, intelligent, and attractive black woman was portrayed as this insecure little girl that compared herself to white women the entire book. I'm sorry but I felt like the author could have done so much for this character instead of perpetuate the stereotype that black women are all just secretly jealous of white women. Every time she whined about the tiny blonde white woman I wanted to throw my phone against the wall! ...more

Sometimes all I want is uncomplicated and this is as uncomplicated as it gets and I loved it! Drew and Alexa are exactly the kind of pair I root for. This was sweet without being too cheesy (although they do love cheese and crackers) and formulatic But Who cares? I wanted to root for them!
What was really nice was the sprinkle of real life s***. It doesn’t get too deep into anything but it was a nice reminder that even rom coms are based in the real world somewhat.

This is a quick and easy read that I enjoyed a lot despite its shortcomings. Alexa is visiting her sister at the hotel her sister is staying in to congratulate her on a job promotion. When Alexa gets stuck in an elevator at the hotel, she meets Drew, who is in town for his ex’s wedding. They have instant chemistry so Drew invites her to be his wedding date since his original date bailed. Alexa agrees and the relationship quickly blossoms into something more over the next few months. But Drew is

Cute, quick read that definitely helps to take your mind off the gloom and doom of the last few months. It’s just the kind of book I needed to break out of my reading drought. I didn’t intend to take that long to read it, but I was also reading other books at the same time.
Two strangers are stranded together in a hotel elevator and through fate, they ended up liking each other WAY more than they thought they would. It’s not a deep or intellectual plot and it wasn’t supposed to be. But there is ...more

An easy, breezy, fun read! A typical romantic comedy with some interesting layers that set it apart and make it very memorable. It's a fantasy of a hunky doctor totally out of anyone's league finding a somewhat ordinary girl to be the one. The characters are believable and fleshed out so they walked with me the week I was reading it. It would make a great movie . It also broached the multicultural discussion which took the book to whole new level. Fun and recommended
