I read this for about half an hour, left the bookmark in and promised to come back to it.
But seriously, it's kind of annoying. The zombie scenes really clash with the rest of the story - it's not nearly as intertwined and well-written as it should be.

As what is being called a quirky classic, this has Miss Elizabeth Bennett, her family, Mr. Darcy and other characters that we know from the original Pride and Prejudice, but it is strange, different and even funny. I spent most of the book trying to remember the original story and then compare it to what was happening at the time regardless of the zombies. Had a difficult time getting in to it, it didn’t hold my attention as well as I expected it to. While it was funny, it also seemed a bit disj

I just finished chapter 13 and I am having trouble getting into it. I was really excited about this book, but the zombie parts are falling flat. Really, it's only making me want to go re-read Pride and Prejudice, and I'm debating if I should even bother finishing or just go read the original again.
So far the best line has been: "What do you mean, my dear? I know of nobody that is coming, I am sure, unless Charlotte Lucas should happen to call in- and I am sure my dinners are good enough for her ...more

Oh my god this book was amazing. I have read many of the reviews that say it aweful and should never have been published so I bought this with a bit of trepidation however this was very much ill-founded. Grahame-Smith has kept the original Austen story and ingeniusly added in segments setting the story at a time when the country is over run by the unmentionables and have been for five and fifty years. Grahame-Smith has blended the original text with his own seamlessly and has made it seem as muc

I think the title pretty much tells it all. When I first heard of this book I thought it would be awful. I happened to see it in the library and decided to check it out. The author actually does a good job of integrating the zombies into the story. I found parts of the zombie mayhemn funny. Overall not a bad book.
Oh dear... I wanted to like this, I really did, but in my opinion it just didn't work. The 'zombiefication' was too clumsy. I hated the way some bits were left exactly as the original and some bits were so, so different. It felt like the author didn't quite know how to proceed so just slipped in zombie sections every now and again. He really needed to be more consistent and either rewrite the whole book as a pure laugh (it would have been so much more fun if Lady Catherine was the zombie leader!

I did not expect this book to be so clever and entertaining. I mean, in some ways it just seems right that Elizabeth should deliver her initial refusal to Darcy with both stinging words and stinging roundhouse kicks to the face. It is by far the best "fanfic" adaptation I've read. A little gory, and corny, true, but definitely worth it to read Darcy telling Elizabeth that "his [musket] balls belong to her." I chortled out loud several times.
