Do not read if you haven't read The Summoning!

Now I admit I'd get rather freaked out if I had a long conversation with a sweet little old lady in a restaurant, and then realize everyone's laughing at me because I'm the only one who sees and hears her.

Chloe not only sees ghosts, she can summon them, and if she tries too hard, she summons them from the grave (we're talking zombies here!), and then has to release their spirits so they can go back to being dead. But she's still learning what her powers are, so learning how to control them is h

Quite some time has passed since I read the first book in this series. I remember being eager to read the next one and find out what would happen to Chloe and her friends. I have to say, though, I was a little disappointed. The Awakening didn't excite me and keep me in suspense like the first book. There were some developments in the next installement of the series that I found interesting, but I just felt like the story was lacking. I enjoyed this book. I found to be very similar in plot and style to "Wings" by Aprilyne Pike. It also made me think of James Patterson's Maximum Ride series, as well as some Sherrilyn Kenyon stuff. I guess paranormal genre is decidely less-than-unique but still fun and interesting to read about. ...more
