Wonderfully original take on the well worn concept of dragons in fantasy. A very fun and enjoyable read with multiple intriguing concepts. The characters were all very likable, including the main character who manages to be unhappy without being too whiny. I am a real sucker for secondary characters and I loved Orma, for me he was really the hero of the story. I was fascinated by Seraphina's garden of grotesques and I can't wait to meet more of them in the "real world". This aspect of the story

I picked this up because I'd read and loved Tess of the Road, so I was pretty excited about this. It was good, but I didn't like it quite as much as I had the other. I did enjoy getting some more of the story that was alluded to in Tess, though, and some more worldbuilding explanations. The world here is super creative, and I love Hartman's interpretation of dragons.
